Built With Grit - A Bookkeeper's Tale

I may not be the smartest person in the room,
but I’ve got grit for days.

I didn’t build my life on easy steps, filled with sunshine and rainbows.
I didn’t have a financial safety net or magical timing that made everything fall into place.

I built it on resilience.
I built it while scared.
While figuring things out the hard way.
While questioning myself in private but still choosing to lead in public.

I built it by believing that peace, profit, and purpose weren’t reserved for someone else with better connections or a shinier degree. Or that the rich only get richer.

All I knew is that I didn't want to rely on the the government for hand outs. I wanted to be as independent as possible, knowing that if the world shut down tomorrow, I could still feed my family.
