When Embarrassment Stops You From Hiring an Accountant, Please Read This

The most common phrases I hear from business owners:

“I’m sorry I’m so behind. Let me just catch it up, and then you can take over.”

“I’m so embarrassed. This is really personal to me.”

“I know just enough in QuickBooks to be dangerous.”

And honestly, same. It took me a long time to be open about my finances. Now I share them all the time with my team...and with you.

Sharing your real numbers, the actual ins and outs of your business, can be incredibly triggering because it is rarely just about reports, trends, and compliance. We bring our entire relationship with money into our businesses. Debt. Growing up without enough. Living paycheck to paycheck. Fear of disappointing people. Feeling like we should be further ahead than we are. Feeling embarrassed because we don’t know where the money went or why the bank accounts aren’t fuller.

Your financials are information and a rhythm of your business. They are not a measurement of your intelligence, your work ethic, or your worth.
