The Accounting System That Took Me From Poverty to Wealth

Did you know I wrote a book? Well, two of them?

And most days I still look at them and think, "how did this become my life?" You know, those pinch me I'm dreaming moments? I have them alllllll the time.

The STOP Method™ started because I needed a simpler way to manage money in my own businesses. I had spent years in accounting, but I also knew what it felt like to be the business owner staring at a bank account trying to figure out how much of that money was actually available to spend.

So I started separating it into 4 buckets:

SAVINGS

TAXES

OPERATIONS

PROFIT SHARING

These four bank accounts took me out of poverty and into real wealth. I no longer had to add up my groceries in the grocery store, I could buy whatever I wanted. 

I started being able to pay myself real wages and hire employees. 

These four bank accounts gave me a way to see my money differently and, more importantly, feel calmer making decisions with it.

Eventually, I realized the system I had created for myself might help other business owners too. So I wrote a book about it. Then I created a 12-month budgeting workbook because I wanted people to have something they could actually sit down with, write in, work through, and make their own.

And now, years later, I’m preparing to launch The STOP Method™ to other accounting professionals through the CFO Advisory Institute.

I think that this timeline, over 18 years of trying, failing, trying again, having success, might be my favorite part of building anything. You never quite know how far a little idea can travel.
