Parkinson's Update 6
Jul 24, 2026
Parkinson's Update 6.5.26: I spent 4 days in the same clothes. I didn't shower. I barely ate. I went from my bed to the couch back to my bed. I wasn't in pain but I felt like I was in quicksand. Like after my seizures, the world was a little fuzzy. My brain was not moving with my body. And all I could do was shuffle, watch true crime, and pray for healing.
The culprit: new strength training therapy
I thought since I finally had no migraines that it was time to level up my Parkinson's muscle building therapy. Strength training is different from my weightlifting classes. In my PD support group, I was told it's very normal to feel like I did because of the cognitive toll lifting heavy, breathing correctly, body posture, etc had on your brain.
It's so scary when you have a chronic illness, to try new things, and know you might suffer so much because of it. BUT I also know I have to do this to get healthier. My next strength training is in 2 weeks.
I know, even more now, why people spiral into depression. I didn't want to tell a single soul, especially since I just shared how great I was doing. I waited until I felt better to share with you that the worst had passed and that I'm ok again.
Just a friendly reminder that we don't know what others are going through and that it's very difficult to reach out when we're struggling so much. Please, don't take my silence personally. I'm just trying to make it through the day and show up the best I can…run my business, my family, and be a mom and a wife. And it's not annoying to check on me, it's just hard for me to reach out and admit that I'm not Wonder Woman.
Lubbbbbb youuuuuuuuu,
