Did you know I'm adopted? And so is my Seester. So are two other sisters not pictured here.
We came from drug addicts who continued to choose drugs over us after we were born. We ended up being left alone, abused, neglected, and abandoned. Turns out my bio mom was in jail and didn't think to tell anyone where we were.
Somehow, despite the odds, we survived.
We became wards of the state and finally had food, warm beds, and clothes. Eventually, after years in foster care, were adopted and loved.
It's hard to look back on those traumatic years. I know how hard I've fought to build a loving, stable home for my children. They've never gone hungry or wanted for anything. And while I'm not the perfect mother, I strive to be the best mother I can be.
Whatever I do, I strive to do it the best I can. I am so lucky to be alive that I try not to take anything for granted.
